Introduction
If you regularly export property listings from Zillow using Zillow Data Exporter, you know how frustrating it can be to see the same unwanted properties appear in your exports over and over again.
Hidden Homes solves this problem, but hiding a property on Zillow does not sync it automatically. After you open Zillow's Hidden Homes page and select Sync hidden homes in the extension, the property is saved to your PropertyDataLabs account and ignored during supported Cloud Jobs.
Hidden Homes sync and management require the Pro plan or higher. Free and Basic users can still filter unwanted properties manually after exporting.
What are Hidden Homes?
Hidden Homes are Zillow properties that you have explicitly marked as unwanted. Once synced, these properties are excluded from supported Cloud Jobs linked to your PropertyDataLabs account.
Common use cases include:
- Properties outside your budget that keep appearing in broad searches
- Listings you've already evaluated and decided against
- Properties in neighborhoods you're not interested in
- Duplicate or spam listings that clutter your results
After syncing your hidden homes, supported Cloud Jobs can filter them out without requiring you to remove the same properties manually from each result.
How it works
The Hidden Homes feature is built into Zillow Data Exporter. Here is the workflow:
Step 1: Hide a property
While browsing Zillow, click the hide button on any property card or listing page.
Step 2: Sync to your account
Go to your Hidden Homes page and open the extension. Then click the Sync hidden homes button. Your hidden homes should now be synced to your PropertyDataLabs account.
Step 3: Automatic filtering
When you run a supported Cloud Job, the system checks your hidden homes list and excludes any matching properties from the result. This happens automatically—no additional configuration is required.
Managing your hidden homes
You have full control over your hidden homes list. You can:
- View all hidden homes from within the extension
- Unhide a property to restore it to your exports
- Delete hidden homes you no longer need to track
All changes sync instantly to your PropertyDataLabs account and take effect on your next Cloud Job.
Cloud Jobs integration
For supported Cloud Jobs, the system queries your hidden homes list and filters out matching properties before the result is generated.
This means:
- No duplicate effort—hide a property once and supported Cloud Jobs continue to exclude it
- Account-wide—your synced hidden homes are associated with your PropertyDataLabs account
- Persistent—your hidden homes list survives browser restarts and extension updates
Conclusion
Hidden Homes saves you time by letting you permanently filter out properties you don't want to see. Instead of cleaning up your exports manually, sync your hidden homes to your PropertyDataLabs account and let the system handle the rest.
