## Research properties before exporting

Version **3.0.8 is now available**. It adds an optional **Property research** workspace to [Zillow Data Exporter](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/zillow-data-exporter/amgdkfaadejipgcjankdolopgcemolom), so you can review properties, choose the rows you need, and keep your research together before downloading a spreadsheet.

The existing immediate exports remain available. The dock now labels them **Export page** and **Export pages**, with clearer guidance about the current page, multi-page starting point, and plan access. Select **Preview** in the dock, or **Property research** in Settings, to open the new workspace.

## Preview, select, and copy rows

Preview the current **For sale**, **For rent**, **Sold**, or **Saved Homes** results page in a sortable table. Select the properties you want, then download that selection with **Export selected** or use **Copy rows** to paste it into an existing spreadsheet.

The workspace shows when the data was captured and how many properties it contains. Expand **Field coverage** to see which fields are present. Missing values appear as unavailable, while valid zero values are retained. Coverage describes field presence, rather than verifying the accuracy of Zillow's data.

After a research download, a receipt reports rows prepared, duplicates excluded by your export filter, missing values, and captured sources. Copying shows a row-count success toast. Previewing uses no export allowance; downloading or copying a selection uses one export under your existing plan.

Preview captures the current results page. It does not collect every search page or fetch Advanced details for each property, and it does not support individual listing-detail pages.

## Keep a local shortlist with notes and tags

Use **Save to shortlist** to keep properties from several searches together. A success toast confirms the save. Open **My shortlist** to see a list for each property type and its saved property count. Lists with properties are clickable; empty lists are disabled. Select a list to view and export its properties, or use **View property** on a row to edit its notes and tags. Exports can include those notes and tags alongside property data, source URLs, and capture times. **All shortlists** returns to the overview.

Re-saving a property refreshes its captured data while preserving your notes and tags. You can remove selected properties or clear the entire shortlist after confirming.

Shortlists are stored locally in the current browser for your PropertyDataLabs account. They hold up to **200 properties across all listing types** and are not synchronized between browsers. They are separate from your Zillow Saved Homes.

## Task presets for preview and shortlists

Paid Extension accounts gain three field presets: **Minimal property list**, **Sales / sold comparison**, and **Rental research**. Choose a preset before the first preview, or change it while viewing a loaded preview or shortlist to update its fields automatically. A **Preview fields updated** or **Shortlist fields updated** toast confirms success, and checked rows stay selected when the properties are still present. You can also keep using **My export settings**.

## Continue your research in Cloud

Use **Continue in Cloud** to prepare an existing automation workflow:

* **Export this search** opens the Cloud Importer new-job form with the captured sale, rental, or sold search URL and listing type filled in.
* **Fetch selected properties once** appears in sale, rental, and sold shortlists and opens Cloud Fetcher setup with the selected listing URLs, listing type, and a Manual schedule for a one-time fetch.
* **Monitor selected properties** opens Cloud Monitoring setup when every selected property has a supported Zillow home-detail URL. A shortlist can hold up to 200 properties across all types.

Review the sources, schedule, delivery, and credit requirements before creating the job. Opening a setup link creates no job and starts no run. Cloud access and credits follow your account's existing rules.

When creating a Cloud Importer job in the Extension, you can use a suggested name based on the
Zillow search location and listing type. Select **Use suggested name** to apply it, or **Undo** to
restore your previous name.

## Access and getting started

Free accounts can preview and keep a local shortlist. Selected exports use Free's existing fields, CSV format, up-to-40-row limit, and monthly allowance. Basic, Pro, Ultra, and Solo Lifetime accounts gain the task presets, with their existing export allowances and a maximum research selection of 800 rows.

Research downloads are local files. Use the existing immediate export workflow when you need configured Google Sheets delivery or Extension export history.

Read the [property research guide](/docs/extension/property-research) for the steps and the [plan comparison](/docs/extension/plan-access) for access details. Follow the [update guide](/blog/how-to-update-zillow-data-exporter) to install version 3.0.8, then refresh your Zillow tabs after updating.
